From Head of School Dave Skeen

January 19

Dear SDS Learning Community,

Homecoming Week on the Day School campus didn’t disappoint. Time and again, I was witness to long-held traditions that offered opportunities for our community to come together in celebration of school spirit and Griffin pride. Whether it was the looks of admiration on the faces of our youngest students as they stood excitedly in lines to get autographs from our varsity basketball players and cheerleaders after the Red and White Game, the confidence in the hearts of our Griffinettes this morning as they performed for a packed gymnasium, the buzz of excitement as we recognized our Griffin basketball teams at this morning’s pep rally, or the creativity – and hard work – on display throughout our Upper School halls this morning, Homecoming Week reaffirms the incredible sense of community that makes SDS so unique.

At its essence, Homecoming is a time to celebrate the legacy of SDS and the shared traditions that bind us together. It’s a time to be home together as a community – as a family. Alumni, students, faculty, parents and friends.

Thank you for a week to remember. Go, Griffins!

Sincerely,

Dave
