From Head of School Dave Skeen

February 2

Dear SDS Learning Community,

Today is the 100th day of school. As you can tell from the beaming faces above, our students are pretty fired up about that! For the next 75 or so days, we will be continuing to live out our mission and the pathways that our students have set for themselves will come into clearer view. There is a lot of learning yet to come!

It’s a fun time to be around campus:

  • Teachers hid 100 Griffins around campus and asked students of all divisions to find them. You can see the grid of Griffins in the Milliken Lobby.

  • It’s a big evening in Milliken and Stone Gyms as our middle school and varsity basketball teams play Oakbrook this evening. We will celebrate our cheerleaders’ senior night tonight as well.

  • A number of prospective students will compete tomorrow morning for Scholarship Saturday.

  • Spring sport practices have begun and we are getting our first use out of our brand new track and our upgraded baseball field.

  • Fifty-five of our 7th and 8th graders are beginning their practices for the middle school play, Everything You Wanted to Know About Your Teacher (But Were Afraid to Ask) by Jason Pizzarello

Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you all on Monday!

Sincerely,

Dave
