News from the Middle School

Week of Dec. 11

Dear All,

This week has been really full and seriously festive. Between the 7th grade play, the Winter Concert, door decorating contests, basketball games, a parade of projects in every grade level, and wrapping up the end of the semester academically, it has been busy. It has also been a lot of fun. I love the way that our students show up as Griffins in so many ways. I watched one student play four quarters of a basketball game yesterday afternoon and then arrive moments later with his instrument for the band concert. Having said that, I also want you to know that this week has bordered on being a bit too busy for our 7th grade in particular, and we have noted that as we plan for next December!

On Wednesday morning, we recognized our science fair winners.

Category of Superior These students will represent us at the Regional Science Fair this spring. Not pictured is AK Milner who will also take his project to the next level.

We are headed into exam week for our 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students and they are ready. They will need some time this weekend to study for certain, but they have practiced and reviewed in class this week, and they have plans for what and even how they need to prepare.

As a reminder:

5th graders have full days Monday through Wednesday with an early dismissal of 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.

6th graders have their literature exam on Monday with classes that afternoon. They take their history, science, and math exams on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with an 11:00 a.m. dismissal on each of those days.

7th and 8th graders have their literature and language exams on Monday. They take their history, science, and math exams on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with an 11:00 a.m. dismissal on each of those days.

For 7th and 8th graders only, advisory each morning is optional. Exams begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. so they should arrive no later than 8:45 each morning.

Students do not dress down on exam days. The early morning study hall that begins at 7:30 a.m. is still an option.

Be sure to check out Vidgami for photographs of this week as there are far too many to post here. I will leave you with the winning holiday doors as promised. Once again, they were impressive and delightful.

Since this is the last Griffin News email from me before the break, I want to wish you each a happy holiday season and tell you how much you and your children mean to us in the middle. We will look forward to being back on our halls with everyone on Wednesday, January 3rd.

Until then, take good care,

Farrar
