News from the Lower School

Week of Jan. 15

Happy Fri-Yay LS Families,

Between the extreme weather that rolled through the area at the beginning of the week and ending the week with our amazing Kindergartners showcasing their knowledge of animal adaptations, this was a "wild" week in the LS! Happy to hear that everyone was able to brave the storms safely and that damage to households remained minimal.  Special shoutout to all the families who joined us to support our Kindergarten students during their delightful parade through campus, we greatly appreciated your presence.  The Kindergarten presentations were nothing short of phenomenal- a testament to the incredible progress our young learners are making, the guidance our teachers are giving them, and the crucial role you play in supporting and nurturing their love of learning!

Looking ahead, next week is SDS Homecoming Week; a week filled with fun, camaraderie, and celebration of our school community! Our LS students will be joining our Middle and Upper school buddies for festivities on Wednesday and Friday.  Wednesday is our Red/White game which kicks our school spirit into high gear and carries us into Friday where we come together as a whole school community proudly boasting our school pride!

Finally, as a reminder, campus will be closed on Monday as we collectively pause to reflect and honor the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  We encourage you to take this day as an opportunity to engage in activities that promote unity, understanding, and positive change! Here is a link to some MLK events happening in Spartanburg this weekend.

With Gratitude,

Jonathan
